"The Mutant Carrot"
We were fortunate to have some relatives here that were gone for the summer and let us use their garden spot as well as gather their chicken eggs. What a great experience for us. The kids have loved going out there to gather up the "matoes and acchini" and Kate calls them. They also love the carrots. Although our garden had a late start we have still had a good harvest. There is something in having a garden that just brings joy to me! Yesterday I made fajitas and realized that the onions, tomatoes, peppers, and carrots all came from our garden and I love having the fresh vegetables! It has been a good experience for my kids and a good reason to get outside with our family. And at the moment I cannot think of ANYTHING that tastes better than a homegrown tomato!
